6th Annual Tryptophan Race Benefits Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta

The 6th annual Tryptophan Thanksgiving Half Marathon and VIRTUAL RACE has become a north Georgia tradition to begin Thanksgiving Day festivities. Before digging into their Thanksgiving feast, runners work up their appetites by participating in one of the three distances: Half Marathon, 10K, or 5K. The race is scheduled for Thursday Nov. 23, and all proceeds benefit Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. All registrations include chip-timed bib, long sleeve race tee, free race photography and finisher medal for all distances.

All races will start and finish at Cumming’s Fowler Park and participants will enjoy the beauty of the fall colors as they run/walk along the Big Creek Greenway. After starting on the track, half marathon, 10k, and 5k runners will make their way onto the Big Creek Greenway for their respective distances before coming back to the track to cross the finish line. The Big Creek Greenway is a 12-foot wide concrete and boardwalk path that winds through woods along Big Creek and is a favorite route among north Georgia runners and walkers alike.

The Tryptophan Half Marathon has a virtual race that you may run/walk at your leisure. Virtual runners/walkers will be shipped the medal and race tee. If you are joining us on race day, carpooling is suggested as the parking lot at Fowler Park may fill up quickly. Due to the high volume of runners/walkers and the limited space on the greenway, no dogs, baby strollers, bikes, or skates are allowed.

Packet pick-up will be on Tuesday Nov. 21 and Wednesday Nov. 22 from 11am to 6 pm at Totally Running, 405 Peachtree Parkway, Cumming, GA 30041. Awards will be presented to: Overall Male/Female – 1st, 2nd, 3rd and Overall Male/Female 1st, 2nd, 3rd place in Age Group categories (10 and under through 65-plus in 5-year increments). There are also “SPIRIT” awards for the families and friends who show up with the most Thanksgiving cheer.
