Oct. 14 | Scratch your hunger itch! In its fourth year, Scratch is in a new space (one building over), where it can showcase even more of its fresh, made-from-scratch menu and invite over a lot more of their friends. Now with seating for 93 and open all day, every day except Sunday (’till 2 p.m.), it’s the best spot for a quick, hearty “where everybody knows you” kind of lunch in Alpharetta.
Owner Kelly Hughes started Scratch Fresh from the ground up at a time when it “was stupid” to start a restaurant, according to her. But with her mother’s restaurateur instinct (she owned four restaurants while Kelly was growing up) and a superhuman will power, she made it happen. And it was worth it, proven by loyal customers who devour her homemade steak sauce every single day.
Known for their burgers, we couldn’t help but order the Original Scratch Burger with Fries. It reached beyond burger expectations with a juicy patty piled high with custom toppings and a crisped bun that delivered on crunch and taste. If you can eat fast enough to trick yourself into saying you’ve got room for dessert, the milkshakes are bar none, and the Miss Kay’s Peanut Butter Pie – a signature for the restaurant –make this worth fighting Windward Pkwy. lunchtime traffic … And the good news is they’re open for dinner if not.
The Drinks | Chocolate shakes, of course
The Deal | Kelly Hughes started Scratch Burger from the ground up at a time when opening a new restaurant wasn’t exactly the safest financial risk.
