Luce Italian Restaurant

Every neighborhood should have an Italian restaurant to call its own. After all, nothing beats plates piled with steaming pasta when you don’t feel like cooking dinner for the family, or a corner booth and a glass of wine for catching up with friends. Enter Luce Italian Restaurant.

Located at the corner of Sharon Road and Peachtree Parkway, Luce fills a void for quality, scratch-made cuisine in a convenient location for residents of South Forsyth’s Sharon Springs community. Opened since July 2012, the restaurant recently hosted a second grand opening in celebration of its newly acquired liquor license this spring.

Owners David Angeloni and Chef Ken Herock have created a quaint and cozy sanctuary in the Sharon Promenade shopping center that’s nice enough for date night yet comfortable enough to bring the kids. (Booth backs were built intentionally high to keep little diners from disturbing the neighboring table!)

But, of course, the selling point is the menu, and Luce does not disappoint. A basket of homemade bread slathered with garlic butter immediately satiates those hunger pains, but don’t over-indulge; you’ll want to save room for Italian specialties like Italian sausage & peppers (featuring famed Fontanini sausage from Chicago), a hearty lasagna layered with homemade meatballs, and – my personal favorite – the chicken piccata, boasting plenty of lemony, garlicky flavor.

If the crab cake appetizer is available when you visit, order it without hesitation, and plan to splurge on dessert – the creamy tiramisu, served in a martini glass, is as dainty as it is delicious.
