With her warm smile and graceful poise, it’s no wonder Sujatha Reddy is so well-loved by patients and television viewers alike. Born and raised in Chicago, Reddy graduated from medical school in New York at the age of 22, then went on to train in Texas and Michigan before settling in Atlanta after a fellowship at Emory. She also ventured into broadcast journalism while at Emory as the “Good Day Atlanta” Monday morning doctor, and has been providing medical expertise to the media for 14 years, now serving as a medical correspondent for WXIA 11 Alive News and appearing as a regular guest on CNN and Headline News.

As a gynecologist, Reddy’s specialty is women’s health, but she speaks on a wide range of health topics and even won an Emmy for medical journalism for a segment on Marfan syndrome, a genetic disorder of the connective tissue.

“I have a talent for explaining complex medical issues in simple layman’s terms,” Reddy said. “When I started doing regular TV segments, my premise was to inform, not alarm the viewer.”

As a partner at Premier Care for Women and a robotic surgeon who operates at Northside Hospital, Reddy’s success also hinges on the rapport she builds with her patients. “I try to get to know all my patients personally. What’s important to them becomes important to me,” she said. “It makes the job fun, too, because you look forward to seeing people, finding out what exciting places they’ve been to, what’s going on with their kids.”

And Reddy has plenty of exciting stories of her own to share. A classical Indian dancer, she performs in the annual recital at Kruti Dance Academy in Duluth, loves to travel (recent trips include Iceland and Portugal) and is constantly marking items like sky diving off her Bucket List.

Reddy is wearing Ming Wang tweed print blazer with zippered lapel in scarlet/black with black “Tess” tank and black “Sydney” pencil skirt; Shane Co. sterling silver cultured Tahitian pearl and red garnet necklaces, earrings and bracelet, 14k white gold natural ruby and diamond ring, and cultured Tahitian pearl bracelet.
