IMG_9_1201LaBrita Cash-Baskett can’t imagine life without connecting and communicating. As founder/CEO of Fundamental Focus, she teaches others how to harness the power of verbal and written influence through professional communications.

“Communication inspires me, and the opportunities to help people develop and improve their communications are endless,” she said. “I love the challenges of working with others to increase their self-awareness, get their message across and relate better to others.”

An Atlanta native, Cash-Baskett moved to Cherokee County after earning bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Hampton University in communication sciences and disorders and a doctorate from Argosy University in organizational leadership.

Professionally, she serves on the board of the Georgia Speech-Language Hearing Association and the Georgia Chattahoochee Chapter of the Association of Proposal Management Professionals and is the past national director at large for the Corporate Speech Pathology Network. She was selected as a member of the Cobb Chamber’s 2013-2014 Leadership Class, and a nominee for the 2012 Girl’s Inc. Strong Smart and Bold Awards. She enjoys working with the YWCA, Sheltering Arms for Kids, Cobb Works, Cobb Executive Women, and other groups.

“I learned the importance of community service and outreach from watching my mother,” she said. “Despite our personal circumstances during the time when we lived in the Atlanta housing projects, my mother always helped others — whether she was volunteering at food banks, neighborhood associations or the PTA.”

With an insanely busy work schedule, Cash-Baskett somehow maintains a balance with her home life. She has been married for eight years to retired Lieutenant Colonel Ken Baskett, who she refers to as “the epitome of a supportive spouse.”

“A supportive spouse is vital for women who want to take their place at the ‘leader- ship table.’ My relationship is a major factor in why I have the freedom to live authentically and love fully.”

LaBrita is wearing Ming Wang SAPPHIRE Collection embellished zip front jacket in garnet with black “Demi” sheath dress; Shane Co. sterling silver cultured Tahitian pearl and red garnet necklaces with earrings, 14k white gold diamond and natural black sapphire ring, and sterling black agate bracelet.
