Cocktails in the Courtyard

Written by Colleen Ann McNally

ArtmoreHotelThursday marked the first day of spring. To celebrate the longer days and warmer nights, the Artmore Hotel in Midtown hosted their fourth annual Cocktails in the Courtyard.

When you drive down West Peachtree Street, the hotel’s chic, Spanish-inspired courtyard is easy to spot ––especially with the addition of the white-tented Cocktail Garden earlier this year. The Artmore Hotel is set in the city’s vibrant creative district, just a few blocks from the Woodruff Arts Center and Savannah College of Art and Design. However, once you step inside the charming courtyard you’ll feel miles away from it all.

There was still a chill in the air as guests began arriving at 6 p.m., but sunshine flooded between the hotel’s saffron orange adobe walls, giving the space a sense of warmth. A magnificent fire fountain, the courtyard’s central focal point, combined with surrounding space heaters helped fuel the illusion. Knowing the sun sadly was fading fast, large white bulbs hung just overhead, waiting to be illuminated and promising fun would continue into the night. Jazz duo Groove Centric supplied smooth sounds in one corner, while tables of complimentary drinks and tasty bites flanked the courtyard, with treats including Back Forty Beer Company’s Truck Stop Honey Brown Ale, pineapple chicken kabobs and bite-sized Sprinkles Cupcakes made the event even sweeter.

The crowd mixed and mingled through the courtyard, curved through the Studio Bar + Lounge and extended into the covered Cocktail Garden. The space also provides a stylistically intimate setting that is enclosed within a state-of-the-art tent to ensure comfort year round. Inside the bar, a Henna artist from Crimson Art painted the organic paste on willing guests while bartenders poured refreshing mojitos and margaritas, furthering the fantasy of an exotic mini-vacation. With food service available from 5 – 11 p.m. daily in the garden (or delivered to your room!), the in-town getaway is easy accessible and waiting for you to arrive.

Although the juxtaposed night-lit Atlanta skyline anchors you in time and place, the boutique hotel’s overall experience is certainly unique. With 102 rooms and 33 luxury suites, the Artmore Hotel could be your next Stay-cation destination. 404-876-6100, artmorehotel.com
